America’s Coastal Highway: A Motor Trail in Sound of the Surf, was published in 1928, by Registered Service International in Greensboro, N.C. The book offered “reliable statements of attractions, facts and features on trails for motorists”. The book introduced the “new” North/South Highway to the motorists of America, encouraging travel from Delaware to Georgia, with many stops in between. The route took travelers through Georgetown, S.C. and highlighted many of the historic buildings that can still be found in Georgetown today.
